Obituary of Violet Holmes
Violet May (Heney) Holmes passed away on Tuesday, December 20, 2022, at the Foyer d’Youville in Gravelbourg, SK with family by her side. Violet was born in Shaunavon, SK on May 6, 1933. She attended Victoria School in Moose Jaw, SK. On June 3, 1949, she married Leslie Holmes. During their time in Moose Jaw, they were blessed with six children. In 1967, the family moved out to the RM of Shamrock to take over the Holmes family farm. Violet was a great cook and an amazing canner. She wasn’t afraid to spice things up, especially her pickles. She enjoyed cross-stitching, crocheting, and doing crafts and even taught herself to play the organ and keyboard. In the spring of 1988, she moved to Gravelbourg where she resided until her passing. Violet was employed at the Foyer for a time working in the activities department and was a nurse's aide. She was a devoted member of the Church of Christ and president of the Villa for many years. She loved spending time with her family, loved each and all of them and was so proud of their accomplishments big and small. Violet leaves to mourn her son Bob (Lynn) Holmes, daughter-in-law Marcia Holmes, son Victor (Jeannine) Holmes, daughter Barb (Bob) Ratzlaff, son Daniel Holmes, as well as her many, loved grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is predeceased by Leslie Holmes, son Bill Holmes, daughter Lori Holmes and granddaughter Micheala Holmes. A Funeral Service will be held in the spring of 2023. Interment will take place at the Shamrock Cemetery.
