Obituary of Owen Coldwell

Owen Coldwell was born to Edmund and Sara Coldwell on the farm, SW¼ 23-7-28 W2, on May 11, 1927. After completing his education at Hepworth School, he worked for a survey crew for the Department of Highways from 1948 to 1950. For the next five years, he worked at the Imperial Garage in Rockglen, SK where he met and married Alice Griffin of Rockglen in 1953. They had three children Allen, Marilyn and Joseph.  From 1956 until 1973 they farmed the home place near Readlyn. After selling the farm to John Wool­house, Owen worked for two years with Dallas Hoffos of Assiniboia, SK who did crop spraying by air.  In 1975 Owen and Alice moved to Cranbrook, B.C., where he was employed by a John Deere Indust­rial Agency. In 1978 the family returned to Assini­boia, where he worked at Round-Up Sales and Service. Owen loved to go hunting and fishing with family and friends. Later in life, he found great pleasure in helping out Louis Huys and Tawnya Rich on the farm and enjoyed being treated as one of the family. Sadly, Owen passed away at the Bengough Health Centre on January 21, 2023.  Owen was predeceased by his wife Alice (1995), son Allen (1966), daughter Marilyn (1981), son Joseph (2009), father Edmund (1986) and mother Alice (1995). A Graveside Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, May 11, 2023, 2:00 pm at Mount Hope Cemetery.
