Obituary of Lucille Boire

Marie Irene Lucille Boire (née Legault) passed away at the age of 84 on April 6, 2023, surrounded by her loving family at the Foyer d’Youville in Gravelbourg, SK. She was born on April 12, 1938, in Ponteix, SK, the second child of Rene and Lumina (née Lallier) Legault. Lucille attended school in Ponteix and grew up on the family farm with her three siblings a few miles southeast of town. On October 15, 1958, she married Denis Boire in Ponteix, SK, and they settled on a farm seven miles northeast of Gravelbourg, where they raised their four sons, Alain (1959), Donald (1960), Gilles (1961), and Adrien (1966).

Lucille was a passionate gardener with a green thumb and took great pride in her yard and gardens, especially her flowers, which she loved to share with family, friends and at the church. She was an early riser and an excellent cook and baker, taking enormous pleasure in preparing wonderful meals for her family and guests. Her specialties included upside-down pineapple cake, bread, raspberry pies, puddings, cinnamon rolls, chocolate and marble cakes, and delicious desserts. Lucille enjoyed ceramics, square and round dancing with Denis, playing the piano and organ, and entertaining the residents at the Foyer d'Youville and her grandchildren. Many wonderful memories were shared on Christmas morning as she entertained the grandchildren with her musical talents, and they danced in the living room. Lucille enjoyed being with people and helping in the community. She was a faithful member of Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church, a lifetime member of the Catholic Women's League, and she also enjoyed being a Lioness.

Lucille had a kind and generous heart and loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren dearly. “Lucille you will be remembered as our Angel.”

She is survived by her loving family: son Alain (Cindy) Boire, grandchildren Stephanie (Brentt), Rene (Samantha); son Donald (Colette) Boire, granddaughter Dawn (Ryan), great-grandchildren Estelle, Abrielle, and Keaton, grandson Dominic (Megan), great-grandson Eli, grandson Dustin (Delanie); son Gilles (Angie) Boire, grandson Tineil (Raven), great-grandchildren Oaklee and Graynger, granddaughter Jaylene (Logan), great-grandchildren Braxtyn, Tenley, Feenix and Elliot, granddaughter Odessa (Jason), great-grandchildren Brinleigh, Graham and Quinn; son Adrien (Leanne) Boire, granddaughter Malinda, great-grandchildren Charlie and Gavin, grandson Justin, grandson Mark (Nicole), grandson Ryan (Rhianna). She is also survived by her siblings Emile (Sharon) Legault and Rolande (John) Hollebeke; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, as well as Denis' siblings and their families. Lucille is reunited in heaven with her husband Denis Boire; father and mother Rene and Lumina Legault and brother Leo (Jeanne) Legault.

A Mass of the Christian Burial will be held on April 15, 2023, 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Assumption Co-Cathedral in Gravelbourg, with Father Carlos Jimenez as celebrant. Memorial donations in Lucille’s memory may be given to the Canadian Mental Health Association Saskatchewan Division, 2702 12th Avenue - Regina, SK S4T 1J2.
