Obituary of Hélène Massé
Hélène Julienne Massé passed away peacefully on May 23, 2023, at the Cypress Regional Hospital, with her loving family by her side. Hélène was born on February 18, 1942, in Kincaid, SK. She was the fifth of ten children born to Paul and Jeannette Morin. Hélène was raised on her parents farm, west of Ferland, SK, and she attended school in Ferland, Lafleche and Val Marie. Hélène married the love of her life, Paul Albert Massé on July 16, 1963. They were blessed with three children: Suzanne, Carmen and Rick. Together Hélène and Paul built a life farming and raising their family, in the Ferland district.
Hélène was known for being a wonderful, kind, and caring mother. She loved spending time with her family and friends, and she especially cherished the time spent with her grandchildren. Hélène was heartbroken when her eldest daughter, Suzanne, passed away in 2014. While there is great sadness in Hélène’s passing, there is peace knowing that she is reunited with Suzanne in Heaven.
Hélène was dedicated to her community, and was a devoted and faithful member of St. Jean the Baptiste Roman Catholic Church. Her favourite pastimes were playing bingo, bowling, golfing, gardening, doing puzzles, and playing cards and dice. She was an amazing cook and baker; her family will fondly remember her delicious home-cooked meals, her jam-jam cookies, her fabulous pies, and her famous cinnamon buns. Hélène had a fresh pot of coffee on at all times, and always welcomed family & friends that stopped by for a visit. She and Paul spent over 30 years as snowbirds in Arizona, creating fond memories and friendships. In 2022, Hélène and Paul moved from the town of Ferland to Swift Current, SK.
Hélène is survived by her husband Paul Massé, daughter Carmen Emery (Mitch), son Rick Massé (Wanda), son-in-law Greg Lockert, grandchildren: Cody Lockert (Breanna), Joshua Lockert (Tori), Kieva Underhay (Dom), Emilie Dombrova (Justin), Rikki Moore, Cole Wellbrock; great-grandchildren: Liam Lockert, Lily Lockert, Myah Lockert, Ozzy Moore, and another great-granddaughter on the way; sisters: Pauline Boisvert (Gilles), Jeannine Lemire (Guy), Monique Bouvier (Fern), Aline Gauthier (Jean-Paul), Emilienne ‘Mimi’ Morin, and their families; in-laws: Monique Morin, Gerard Pliez, Arthur Massé, Jeannine Yakymyk, Monique Brisebois, Rene Massé (Eva), and their families.
