Obituary of Vincent Pinsonneault
Vincent Guy Pinsonneault of Gravelbourg, Saskatchewan, left us tragically on June 18th, 2023, at the age of 20 years old. Vincent was born on May 17, 2003. He started kindergarten in Blairmore, Alberta, then moved back to Gravelbourg in grade 1 and continued his education at Ecole Gravelbourg School until graduation. He was a French immersion student from grade 1 to grade 10 and then switched to English for his last two years of high school. He went on to the University of Saskatchewan for his first year of post-secondary education. After a year, he changed directions and decided to follow in his dad’s and grandparents’ footsteps, pursuing a career in the agricultural industry.
Vince went to Swift Current (Great Plains College) and received his Agriculture Science Certificate, where he received the achievement award at graduation in April 2023. This spring, Vince proudly received a position working for Corteva and was especially proud of his company truck. Vince was set to return to school this fall. He was going to study Ag Science at Lakeland College in Vermilion, Alberta.
Vincent was an active and athletic young man. He enjoyed playing hockey, golf, and baseball. In hockey, Vince played with many teams, all excelling as a goaltender. He first started with the Gravelbourg Stars, where he won the Wood River League championship in the Atom Division. He later went on to play with the AA U15 and AA U18 Swift Current Broncos. In his most recent years, Vinny came home to play for his dream team, the Gravelbourg Hornets, the senior team in town. He was an inspiration to many aspiring young goaltenders in southern Saskatchewan. Vincent spent countless hours refereeing Minor Hockey games throughout Southern Saskatchewan.
As for golf, Vince proudly played for his high school team and was offered scholarships to play Division 2 golf in the United States. Vince was passionate about the sport and often went for his own enjoyment, as well as the weekly men's night out at Thomson Lake. Two weeks ago, Vincent recently shot his personal best on the front nine at the Thomson Lake Golf Course. He shot a 33 (-2) at men’s night. Vincent loved the game. He enjoyed one summer working as the starter at the Thomson Lake Golf Course. He formed several lasting relationships with people of all ages at the golf course.
Vince also played baseball his whole life, playing first base, pitcher, and catcher. He played with Gravelbourg Minor League Baseball since he was young and played with the Lafleche Merchants Senior Baseball Club for the past few years.
Vincent loved the Pittsburgh Penguins, Toronto Blue Jays, and Saskatchewan Roughriders. He attended the most recent home opener with his dad and uncle. He adored his little Yorkshire Terrier named Jax.
Vincent loved to be surrounded by his family and friends. He had a special connection with his cousins. Vincent enjoyed summer evenings around the campfire, playing poker, and dancing/singing. Vincent’s sense of humor and positivity brought so much joy into the lives of his family and friends, and we will continue to remember how he enriched our lives.
