Gordon Frederick Falconer was born on October 5, 1938, in Lafleche, Saskatchewan, the second son of Alex and Evelyn (Hutton) Falconer of the New Hope District, four miles north of Glentworth, Saskatchewan.
Gordon attended New Hope School for several years, before graduating from Lafleche High School.
He began farming with his dad and brother, Ken, and took winter courses in Saskatoon for welding and diesel mechanics.
He also worked for the Department of Highways after harvest for several years.
In 1961, he met his soulmate, Sonia Myrvang of the Mankota district, and they were united in marriage on January 12, 1963.
In 1964, they moved to a brand new home on the quarter section Gordon was raised, and were blessed with three children: Alex, Mary Jean, and Doug.
Until the mid-1970's, Gordon and Sonia ran a cattle and grain farm, and Gordon farmed land stretching from Glentworth to Limerick, with very small farm equipment.
He sold off the cattle in 1975, to focus on grain farming.
Alex eventually took over the farm operation, but Gordon helped out for as long as his health allowed.
Over the years, Gordon was active in his home community, serving on the Saskatchewan Wheat Pool Committee, the Glentworth Hall Board, the Glentworth United Church Board, and the New Valley Snowplow Club.
Gordon was a wonderful husband and father, who encouraged his children to get a post-secondary education, and he backed it up by providing financial support for them to do it.
Gordon was predeceased by his parents, Evelyn (1977) and Alexander (Alec) (1989), brother-in-law Harold Klein (1990), and his brothers, Ken (2008), and Bob (2012).
Left to cherish his memory is his beloved wife of 60 years, Sonia; son Alex (Mandy) of Glentworth; daughter Mary Jean (Patrick) of Saskatoon, step-grandchildren Kristen (John) Grenci, and their children Mateo and Bria of Saskatoon, Brett Allen of Fort Qu'Appelle, Joel (Janessa) Allen and their son, Van, of Regina; son Doug (Rhonda) and grandchildren, Scott and Caylee of Yorkton; sisters-in-law Marlene Falconer of Regina; Mardell Falconer of Regina; Lillian Klein of Mankota; brother-in-law Orville (Mavis) Myrvang of Regina, as well as many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the staff of the Lafleche and District Health Centre, who took such amazing care of Gordon during his final months.
