Obituary of Carl Singbeil

Carl Lyle Singbeil was born on October 2nd, 1956, to his parents Donny and Betty. He grew up on the family farm west of Mossbank and developed a love of curling, baseball and agriculture. After high school graduation in 1974, he followed his passion for farming and enrolled at the College of Agriculture at the University of Saskatchewan, majoring in Agronomy. Carl had the time of his life as an Agro, meeting many lifelong friends, and most importantly, meeting the love of his life, Kathy. After convocation, he came back to Mossbank and farmed as he waited for Kathy to finish her degree.  They were married July 9th, 1983 and moved onto the Schwager Yard, Northwest of Mossbank. They welcomed two sons, Bobby (April 1986) and Corey (January 1989).  From the late 80’s to early 90’s Carl continued to farm while also doing income tax with Barry Jolly and working for Farm Debt Review Board. In 1991, Carl and family moved east when he proudly purchased Uncle Willie Singbeil's homestead, and in 1994, they bought 10 Black Angus cows starting their ranching journey. 

By 2003 they had fully converted to ranching. They built the ranch from the ground up and took pride in doing it by themselves. Carl loved the ranching life and working beside the love of his life every day. He was able to pass his passion for agriculture on to his sons, and later onto his grandchildren. The kids loved coming to the farm for tractor rides, "paw patrol" cattle chases and time spent learning and exploring on the farm. Carl earned the name "Farm Grandpa" and wore it with pride. Carl also loved traveling around visiting other ranches, buying bulls and making new friends.

Carl always played as hard as he worked. Hunting, fishing, and sports were his main pastimes. A lot of great fishing trips were had, including Besnard Lake and deep-sea salmon fishing in BC.  He was very involved in baseball - playing for the Mavericks, coaching his sons or being his grandchildren’s #1 fan. He loved the Saskatchewan Roughriders; keeping his season tickets until 1995 when he attended the 1st Grey Cup hosted in Regina. There were countless baseball tournaments and curling bonspiels he could be found at, always having a great time socializing.

Carl was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be deeply missed by his family, neighbours and friends.
