Obituary of Harry Blake
Thomas Harry Blake of Glentworth, SK, passed away on April 12, 2013, at the age of 82 years. Harry was born in the McCord District on June 25, 1930, the youngest of four children born to Horace and Gertrude (nee Hodgins) Blake. Harry attended Twin Valley School and completed grade seven. He loved farming and in 1948, Harry bought land in the RM of Wood River. He was a cattle and grain farmer in the McCord area and retired in 2002. Harry married Karen Anderson on November 10, 1956, and they were blessed with five children. Harry enjoyed fixing things, and there wasn’t much that he couldn’t repair. He had every nut and bolt organized, just in case he might need it one day. Harry had a love of John Deere tractors; this was a passion that started at a young age and stayed with Harry his entire life. He was a humble man and honesty always came first; he often said, "Always tell the truth, because it’s a lot easier to remember than a lie.” This message was proudly passed on to Harry’s children and grandchildren. Harry was a kind hearted, hard working and honest man, who was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He will be dearly missed by family and friends.
Harry is survived by his loving family, son Murray (Nicole), granddaughter Crystal (Dave) Raymond, great grandson Tristen, grandchildren Suzanne (Tyler Smyth), Shane (AnnMarie Martin) and Josie; son Randy; daughter Leona, grandchildren Sabrina and Patrick; son Danny (Treena), grandchildren Braylen, Aspen and Kohan; sister-in-law Hazel Blake; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Predeceased by his wife Karen (nee Anderson, 2010); son Grant (1980); parents Horace and Gertrude (nee Hodgins) Blake; brother Albert Blake; sisters Muriel (Lorne) Anthony and Vera (Graham) Williamson.
