Obituary of Kevin Fehler
Kevin William Fehler was born on August 2, 1963, in Hodgeville, SK. He was the second child of four born to William and Shirley (nee Haubrich) Fehler. He passed away on December 14, 2023 in Swift Current.
Kevin attended high school in Hodgeville, SK, and enjoyed playing high school football. Despite the early loss of his oldest brother Kerry in 1969, and his father Bill in 1974, followed by the passing of his mother Shirley in 2010, Kevin's resilient spirit and love for his siblings remained unwavering.
Growing up, Kevin had a profound love for dogs with his first dog being Toby. Kevin went on to pursue higher education at SIAST, earning his diploma in Radio and Television electronics. His professional journey led him to work for Xerox for 19 years before joining SaskTel in 2007.
Kevin was an avid and passionate hunter. He took great pleasure in making sausage, pastrami, and smoking numerous types of meat. Kevin was not only a skilled knifemaker but also his talents extended to working with leather, showcasing his exceptional craftsmanship. He was a mentor to many, passing on his knowledge through teaching and instructing federal firearm classes (PAL) and restricted firearm safety courses (RPAL). A collector at heart, Kevin believed that garages were not meant for parking but for the treasures he cherished. In April 1996 Kevin met his soulmate Brenda Fennuk. Kevin's humorous spirit shone through as he joked about being allergic to flowers and diamonds, yet every Valentine's Day, Brenda received a dozen red roses however no diamonds. In 2015 Kevin and Brenda returned to his cherished childhood home in Hodgeville. He loved his community dearly and proudly served as the Mayor of Hodgeville. Kevin's proudest accomplishment in life was being a father to his beloved daughter, Jessica. He cherished his role as Papa to his most precious granddaughters, Rayelle and Callie, who brought immeasurable joy to his life. Kevin you will always be on our minds and forever in our hearts, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories. May you rest in peace.
Kevin is survived by his loving family: spouse Brenda Fennuk; daughter Jessica (Callaghan) Ogden, granddaughter Rayelle, and Callie; sister Lynne (Jon) Kowalski, brother David (Brenda) Fehler; aunt Joyce Grant; sister-in-law Areta (Peter) Bowring; nephew, nieces, and cousins. He is predeceased by his father William “Bill” and mother Shirley Fehler; brother Kerry Fehler; father-in-law Jack and mother-in-law Dixie Fennuk.
A Celebration of Kevin’s Life will be held Thursday, December 21, 2023 @2:00 p.m. at the Hodgeville Community Centre. A private family interment will take place at St. Joseph Cemetery, Hodgeville, SK. Memorial donations in Kevin’s memory can be made to the Hodgeville Community Centre, Box 121 Hodgeville, SK S0H 2B0.
