Obituary of Jean Straub

On January 7, 2024, at the Meadows, at the age of 84, surrounded by her loving family, the Lord welcomed Mom, Jean Florence Straub to her Heavenly Home, where she was reunited with Art.

Jean was born July 30 1939 in Gravelbourg, Saskatchewan to Peter and Adele Miller. Jean was the oldest of three girls. Jean grew up on the farm in the Glen Bain area. Jean attended school at Malty, Glen Bain and Gravelbourg.

Jean was active in Luther League, this is where she met Art Straub. They soon were married at Trinity Lutheran Church on July 11, 1959. Their marriage was blessed with two children, Judy and Glenn. Jean had great Faith and read her Bible daily. Jean and Art were very involved in the Salem Lutheran Church in Hodgeville. Jean was a member of the ECLW, sang in the choir, taught Sunday School and vacation Bible school, attended Bible studies and went to many church conventions with the ladies.

Jean always grew a big garden. She also enjoyed sewing and crocheting. She loved baking and cooking and loved to entertain family and friends. You never went away hungry! She helped Art on the farm with what she was able to. She also worked as a care aide for a few years with Home Care around the Hodgeville area.

Jean suffered a bad stroke in 1988 which left her with some disabilities. Art became a wonderful caregiver to Jean.

Jean and Art retired to Swift Current in 2005 where they started to attend St. Olat

Lutheran Church and made new friends. Jean and Art loved socializing and playing cards.

Jean enjoyed having her family all together. She loved her four grandchildren with all her heart. Later on, Jean really enjoyed when the great-grandchildren came around to see her.

Jean was predeceased by her husband Art in 2020. Her parents Peter & Adele Miller, in-laws: Henry and Mary Straub. Brothers-in-law: Donald Straub, Don Luciak and Lloyd Busch

Jean is survived by children: Judy (Ernie) Wilson and Glenn (Connie) Straub, grandchildren: Jonathan (Talia) Wilson and their children Brandon and Ryder: Jessica (Carson) Daly and their children Hunter and Emerson: Nicole (Blade) Davie and their children Taytum and Jayda and Riley (Melissa) Straub and their children Sawyer and Maverick, sisters Marjorie (Roger) Bertrand and Irene Luciak, sisters-in-law Louise Busch and Lois Cady, brother-in-law Larry (Linda) Straub, and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral Service will be held Friday, January 12, 2024, at St. Olaf Lutheran church at 2:00 pm. Memorial donations in Jean's memory may be made to St. Olaf Lutheran Church, 665 Central Avenue North, Swift Current, SK. S9H OM2
