Obituary of Madeleine Lorrain
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Madeleine Marguerite Marie Lorrain (née Spronken), who passed away at her home on February 25, 2024, in Gravelbourg, Saskatchewan. Born on March 5, 1942, in Gravelbourg, Madeleine's journey began with grace and love.
Her formative years saw her in Winnipeg, Manitoba before returning to Gravelbourg in her early teens to pursue her education. In 1956, Madeleine met her soulmate, Georges Lorrain. Their love blossomed, and they were married on Dec. 6, 1958, at St. Vital, Manitoba. Together, they embarked on a shared life, starting in a small home within Georges' parent's homestead. Over the next 55 years, their home was blessed with the laughter and joy of two sons, Michel and Guy. Madeleine, with her inner and outer beauty, illuminated the lives of those around her. Sadly, George passed away in 2014, leaving behind cherished memories and a legacy of love.
Madeleine is survived by her devoted family; her son Michel (Janet) Lorrain, her granddaughters Revée (Mario) Bourdreau, Stéphanie (Kyle) Rewniak, and great-grandson Jasper. She is also lovingly remembered by her son Guy Lorrain (Cheryl), her brothers John (Gloria) Spronken, Peter (Shawn) Spronken, sisters Cecile (Nick) Pyrch, Betty Spronken, sister-in-law Eveline Lorrain and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband Georges, parents Joseph and Marie Spronken, and her brother Louis Spronken. Also preceding her are Georges' parents, Berthe (Balthazard) and Amédée Lorrain, his brothers Robert, Edouard (Louise Poirier), René (Thérèse), Alexandre (Carmen), Arthur Lorrain and his sisters Laurette (René) Bouvier, Solange (Raoul) Chevrier, and Clarisse (Edward) Woods.
A Funeral Service honouring Madeleine's life will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2024, at 11:00 a.m., at Our Lady of the Assumption Co-Cathedral in Gravelbourg, SK. Following the service, Madeleine will be laid to rest at the Gravelbourg Roman Catholic Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made in Madeleine's memory to the Co-Cathedral Restoration Fund, Box 540, Gravelbourg, SK S0H 1X0.
Though she may have departed from our midst, Madeleine's spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those she touched with her kindness, warmth, and unwavering love. May her soul find eternal peace in the embrace of the divine.
