Obituary of Agnes Bourgeois

Agnès Alice Bourgeois of Gravelbourg, SK passed away on November 19, 2015, at the age of 91 years. Agnès was born on November 16, 1924, in Gravelbourg, SK. She was the 15th of 19 children born to Louis and Agnès (nee Aussaunt) Braconnier. She attended school until half way through grade seven, when she began taking care of her mom. She worked hard at home, baking bread and taking care of laundry. Her days were very busy, but when Agnès had a spare moment she would work on embroidery. She married Roger Bourgeois on April 3, 1945, and they were blessed with four children. Agnès and Roger enjoyed curling, square dancing in Melaval, and golfing when they moved to Willow Bunch. In 1977, Agnes and Roger took a trip of a lifetime spending three weeks on a Caribbean cruise. Agnes loved it! They retired to Gravelbourg in 1983 and built a new home in 1984. They also bought a boat and enjoyed fishing together. Agnès was an excellent housekeeper, and an amazing cook. She was a patient, kind, and very generous person. She lived a long and happy life, and was able to stay in her house in Gravelbourg until she was 90 years old. She then moved to the Foyer d’Youville. Agnès will be forever in the hearts of her loving family and friends. Agnès is survived by her loving family, daughter Cécile Fauchon, grandchildren Michel, Aimé; son Pierre (Rita) Bourgeois, granddaughters Michelle, Danielle, Charmaine; son Louis (Carole) Bourgeois, granddaughters Andrea, Melissa; son Alain (Lynn) Bourgeois, grandchildren Alain Jr., Christine; brother Leo Braconnier. Predeceased by her husband Roger Bourgeois (1995); grandson Paul Fauchon (2014); parents Louis and Agnès Braconnier; 14 brothers and three sisters. Prayer Service was held on Sunday, November 22, 2015, at 7:00 p.m., and Funeral Mass on Monday, November 23, 2015, at 2:00 p.m., both at Our Lady of the Assumption Co-Cathedral, Gravelbourg, SK. Presider for prayers was Fern Bouvier. Mass celebrant was Father Hope Klutsey. Cross bearer was Christine Bourgeois. Paschal Candle was lit by Pierre Bourgeois. Readers were Michelle Bourgeois and Andrea Sinclair. Prayers of the faithful were shared by Alain Bourgeois Jr. and Christine Bourgeois. Offertory gifts were presented by Andrew Fauchon, Allie Fauchon, Josie Fauchon and Jenah Sinclair. Soloist Henri Lepage was accompanied by organist Leona Bourgeois. Words of remembrance were shared by Cecile Fauchon and Carole Bourgeois. A Celtic hymn was sung by Christine Bourgeois. Pallbearers were Alain Bourgeois, Aimè Fauchon, Michel Fauchon, Alain Bourgeois Jr., Ken Sinclair and Danielle Lucas. Interment took place at the Gravelbourg Roman Catholic Cemetery. Memorial tributes in memory of Angès to St. Joseph Hospital/Foyer d’Youville Foundation, Box 810, Gravelbourg, SK S0H 1X0 and Masses were greatly appreciated.
