Obituary for Annie Winnifred Dennison (Hartley)
Winnie a former resident of Assiniboia and the Zenith district passed away peacefully at the Lafleche Health Centre on January 9, 2016 at the age of 97 after a long and rich life. Winnie was born on Dec. 29, 1918, at her parent’s farm on the East side of the Lake of the Rivers SE 31-9-28 W2 and attended Davyroyd School. She was the second child of Jack and Ethel Hartley. Winnie married Earl Dennison on November 21, 1941 where they lived and farmed in the Zenith district until 1978. Then they moved to Assiniboia to live but continued helping with the family farm until Earl’s death in 1990. They enjoyed many years of family and friends,square dancing and winters in Mesa Arizona. Winnie was an avid seamstress, sewing her square dance clothes. She enjoyed gardening and flowers, golfing and playing cards. She was an excellent cook, especially her apple pies. Winnie moved to the Lafleche and District Health Center in Dec. 2010. A special thanks to the staff and to Glenda Crooks and Dreida Alspach for the loving care they have given her. She was predeceased by her husband Earl in 1990, son David in 2009 and his wife Faye 2008, brother Herb Hartley, and sister Jeannie Christensen. Surviving to cherish her memory and celebrate her life are: son Larry (Patricia), daughter Jeannie (Ken Fletcher), grandchildren, Delee (Jim Sawyer) Dennison,
Troy(Nicki) Dennison, Lori (Marcel) Porte, Jason (Dana) Dennison, Kim Fletcher, Robby (Sheryll Kulyk) Fletcher, and six great grandchildren, brother-in-law Gerald (Carol) Dennison, sister-in-law June (Keith) Baker. Funeral service will be held on Friday, January 22, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. from St. Paul’s United Church in Assiniboia.
