Obituary of Charles Bodie
Charles George Bodie went Home January 25, 2016, from the Pasqua Hospital, Regina, SK. Charles was born January 6, 1928 to George and Edla (Pearson) Bodie at the Providence Hospital in Moose Jaw, SK. Charles attended Four Corners one room school for his education through grade ten. During this time he helped on the farm. His parents encouraged their young teenagers, Charles and his brother Ross, to attend Bible Camp at Arlington Beach, travelling there by train. It was at Camp that Charles trusted Jesus Christ as his personal Saviour. At 16 he attended Millar Memorial Bible School at Pamburn, SK. He loved and studied prophecy all his life. He became a young farmer and after harvest at home one year he went to work at Prince Albert on a threshing crew. He worked in a garage for a period of time in Middle Lake. Charles worked at
Caron Airport when the Bible School moved from Briercrest to Caronport and at other times. He helped to build the family home on the farm in the forties, and helped to build the home for his parents in Mossbank in early 60's. In the mid 1950s he was very active getting Glad Tidings Bible Camp developed at the PFRA Dam north of Mazenod. It was at camp that he met Anna Snider who was the Provincial Secretary for Canadian Sunday School Mission. They were married on August 3, 1957 and moved to the family farm in 1964. Four children were born to them, Evelynn who died at birth, Glenn, Grace and Carman. His brother Ross (predeceased) and Mae had Joan, Cameron and Melodie. Charles loved his family dearly. They were busy farming and raising their family. They attended church and its activities regularly. He was very supportive of Gideons and missionaries in various parts of the world. Charles was a founding member
and helped to establish the Associated Gospel Church in Mossbank. He served on the Church board, school board, chairman of the GTB Camp, ran the snowplow in the community, and he became a salesman in rural areas for Conklin paint and paint sprayer and various products. When the weekly farm newspaper came he always read it carefully, learning what he could and tried to keep his machinery in the best condition. Charles was a hard worker, good provider, and an able farmer who loved His Lord. Left to mourn the passing of Charles, only to unite in Glory are Anna his wife of 58 1/2 years; son Glenn and Leeann, grandchildren Griffin and Paige; daughter Grace and Martin Farrell, grandchildren Isaac and Aaron; son Carman; sister Shirley; sisters and brothers-in-law, one aunt, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Funeral Celebration Service was held on Friday, January 29, 2016, at 1:00 p.m., at Piche-Hawkins-Grondin Funeral Chapel, Assiniboia, SK. Officiant was Ron Noble. The eulogy was shared by Shirley Bodie. Daughter tribute by Grace Farrell. Music was led by Ron and Lorna Silvester. Flower bearer was Paige Bodie. Active Pallbearers were Glenn Bodie, Carman Bodie, Martin Farrell, Isaac Farrell, Aaron Farrell and Griffin Bodie. Interment took place at the Mossbank Cemetery. Memorial donations in memory of Charles to The Gideons, Box 3619, Stn. Main, Guelph, ON N1H 9Z9, were greatly appreciated.
