Obituary of Irene Bernice ANNAND

The family of Irene Bernice Annand announce her passing on June 8, 2013, at Moose Jaw, SK. Irene was born at Mossbank, SK on May 12, 1928. She had recently celebrated her 85th birthday with a joyous party at the Community Hall in Mossbank. Irene was the youngest child of Walter and Agnes Patterson, pioneers at Mossbank. Irene was predeceased by her brother Robert Patterson, a casualty of WWII on November 22, 1942. She is survived by her dear sister Muriel of Moose Jaw. Like her mother before her, Irene trained as a teacher. She taught at Gallilee, Ettington and Thornhill schools before accepting a marriage proposal from Robert "Bob” Annand. They were married on September 17, 1949, and Irene began her lifelong career as homemaker, wife and mother for Bob and her family. Irene loved her life and her family. She was the best of neighbours and best of friend with people in her community. She welcomed newcomers and consoled people in tough times. Cinnamon buns, jam-jams and apple pie were her gifts of care and compassion. She lived her Christian faith every day and anchored the Mossbank congregation of the United Church of Canada for many years. Faith, compassion and generosity were her guiding principles. Irene leaves her husband of sixty-three years Bob Annand; son Rodney Annand (Lix Mucha), and his children Lisa (Daryl)Daniels and Karen (Gavin) Middleton; son Mel (Imogene) Annand and his children Wade (Kara) Annand, Lacey (Murray) Wilton and Holly Annand; son Glenn (Judith) Annand and his children Matthew Annand and Luke Annand; daughter Jill (Phil) Burt and her children Adam Burt and Mataya Burt; as well as 8 precious great grandchildren. Irene was predeceased by her dear grandson Landon Burt (2009) and daughter-in-law Patty Smith-Annand (2009). The family mourns the passing of a fine lady, friend and neighbour. Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, June 11, 2013, at 2:00 p.m., at the Mossbank United Church, Mossbank, SK. Interment will take place at the Mossbank Cemetery.
