Obituary of Ruby Jalbert
Ruby Laura Jalbert passed away on February 28, 2016, at the Foyer d’Youville, in Gravelbourg, SK, at the age of 83 years. Ruby was born on May 7, 1932, and grew up on a farm in the Flintoft District.
She was predeceased by her husband Wilfred Jalbert (2009); parents John and Katie Nicholson; siblings George, Mary, Alec, John and Nick. She is survived by her loving family, son Zenon (Margy) Jalbert, grandson Graham Paul, grandson Chad (Danielle) Paul, great grandchildren Julia and Nadine; daughter Deb (Cal) Patterson, grandson Ryan (Elisa) Patterson, great grandchildren Amelia, Nolan and Eamon, grandson Graeme Patterson (Amanda Fauteux); son Mark (Janna) Jalbert, granddaughter Ami Jalbert (Sham Dursun), granddaughter Allison Jalbert (Linden Hergott); son Todd (Lori) Jalbert, granddaughter Katlyn Jalbert (Nathan Boschman), grandson Zachery Jalbert; and numerous extended family and friends.
Ruby attended high school in Assiniboia, and after graduation taught for a short time. She met the love of her life, Wilfred Jalbert, and they were married in 1952. Wilfred and Ruby established a farm in the Glentworth area and raised four children, Zenon, Debra, Mark, and Todd. Together they developed and expanded a successful farm operation. She loved to spend social time bowling and dancing. Ruby and Wilfred enjoyed ten years as snowbirds in Brownsville, Texas. Ruby will be remembered for her incredible gardens, amazing cooking, beautiful sewing, crochet, and as a devoted mother, grandmother, wife, and homemaker.
Funeral Mass was held on Saturday, March 5, 2016 at 2:00 pm, at St. George Roman Catholic Church, Assiniboia, SK, with Father Joy Montiague celebrant. Cross Bearer was Zachery Jalbert. The eulogy was shared by Zenon Jalbert. Readers were Pierre Jalbert and June Harbottle. Intentions were ready by Yvonne Jalbert. Offertory Gifts were presented by Katlyn Jalbert and Allison Jalbert. Music was shared by Carol Marit. Urn Bearer was Zenon Jalbert. Interment took place at Mount Hope Cemetery, Assiniboia, SK. Memorial tributes in memory of Ruby to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, 1738 Quebec Ave Unit 26, Saskatoon, SK S7K 1V9, were greatly appreciated.
