Obituary of Terrence Hoffman

Terrence was born on April 28, 1948 in Calgary, AB. He was adopted, and his parents were Donald Hoffman and Grace (nee Robertson) Hoffman. When Terrance was 7 years old, his parents moved to Vernon, BC, and he became a resident at Valley View in Moose Jaw. Terrence’s mother would send birthday and holiday cards in the mail, until her passing in 2002. His dad, Donald, died in 1995. In 1969, Terrence moved to Prince Albert, and in 1974 he moved back to Valley View. In 1977 he moved to Weyburn, and in June of 1980 Terrence moved to a group home in Moose Jaw. He took part in diversified services, which is the day program in Moose Jaw, and enjoyed working in the woodwork shop, and later in the activity area. In 1983, he moved to a private group home. From 1991 to 2015, Terrence lived with Sharon Wittmaier. Sharon was part of a program that brought people from group homes into their own homes. In 2015, Terrence’s health began to decline and because he needed more care he moved into a group home in July 2015 until there was a place available for him in a care home. In September 2015 he moved to the Foyer d’Youville in Gravelbourg. Terrence began working at IPI in Gravelbourg in February, 2016. He was a very friendly and social person, and always greeted people he met with his loud, booming voice. It was very important to Terrence to be independent. He liked to play bingo, board games, and especially loved working on puzzles. He went to Camp Easter Seal and Camp Thunderbird, and liked to go to dances. He also liked to play floor hockey, watch hockey, and was a fan of the Moose Jaw Warriors. Funeral Service was held on Friday, June 10, 2016, at 11:00 a.m., at the Foyer d'Youville Chapel, Gravelbourg, Saskatchewan. Officiant was Wendy Gibson. Interment took place at the Gravelbourg Cemetery.
