Obituary of Edith MILLS
Edith Mills (nee Parmley) formerly of London, ON, passed away peacefully at the grad age of 92 in Assiniboia, SK, with her Granddaughter by her side. Edith was born on May 29, 1921 in Middleton, Greater Manchester to Seth and Edith Parmley. She married her love, Eric Mills, on October 10, 1942. They had a son, Jack, who was their biggest pride and joy. Edith and Eric immigrated to Canada in 1956 and made their new life at 209 Elliott Street. Edith was a grocer sales clerk for many year, starting at the A & P and retiring at the Steinbergs, currently Price Chopper. She always loved her job and had lots of hilarious stories of the goings on behind the scenes; she was very social and came to know half of the city of London. Edith was always optimistic, outgoing, fun, loving and full of energy; she had many good friends over the years. She loved her Scottish Country dance club, was a Tuesday night league bowler for many years, loved live theatre and always had a bus trip planned to see the shows. Edith loved to travel, meet people and experience all that came her way. Eric and Edith went on several cruises and winter holidays, as well as taking visitors from England on lots of Canadian road trips. She loved knitting in the winter, making several sweaters for her granddaughters and spent hours writing letters, keeping in touch with friends and family. Most of all, Edith loved her flower beds and her yard work. She spent hours creating a beautiful place for all who knew her to come and sit, enjoy a cocktail and lots of conversation. She always said it was her place to relax and it gave her peace. Edith cherished her family, was the best Grandma to her 2 Grandchildren and a really lively to her 4 Granddaughters. She taught us all how to be grateful and happy with who we were and always had inspirational words of wisdom. Grandma was an inspiration to all who knew her, above all he knew how to live a good and happy life and she did it well. She leaves hearts full of love and happy memories. She is predeceased by her son Jack, husband Eric, brothers Roland, Len, Frank, Granville, Seth, and sisters Ona and Hilda. She is survived by her granddaughter Leanne Spicer, great grandchildren Leah, Emily, Sidney and Shyla, grandson Jerad (Adelle) and sister-in-law Alice Parmley and several nieces and nephews.
