Obituary of Guy Carrobourg

Guy Joseph Jean-Paul Carrobourg of Gravelbourg, SK passed away on Wednesday, October 12, 2016, at the age of 65 years after a nine year battle with cancer. Guy was born on January 6, 1951, at St. Joseph's Hospital in Gravelbourg, to Paul and Simone (nee Gauthier) Carrobourg and was the fourth of eleven children. Guy grew up on the family farm near Coppen and attended Piché School, le Jardin d'Enfance, and the Gravelbourg High School. Guy then attended the University of Saskatoon to take an agricultural course. After university, Guy worked for a few local farmers until December, 1972, when he began his career with Pioneer Grain. In the fall of 1973 he was transferred to the Pioneer elevator in Gravelbourg where he worked until 1991. Guy married Solange Chouinard on September 28, 1974, and the following spring, they bought the Bill Pratt and Yvon Piché farm six miles northwest of Gravelbourg. Solange and Guy were blessed with four children, Norman, David, Renita, and Danielle. After Guy left the elevator in 1991, he worked at several different jobs until he took a 1A trucking course which began his trucking career. He worked for a couple of local trucking companies until he purchased his own truck and began hauling gravel for aggregate businesses and for rural municipalities. Guy continued to farm and haul gravel until his retirement in 2013 when he and Solange sold the farm and purchased a house in Gravelbourg. Guy was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, and will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Guy is survived by his loving family, wife Solange Carrobourg (nee Chouinard); son Norman Carrobourg (Brigitte Verville), grandchildren Olivia and Hannah; son David Carrobourg (Maryse Lavallee), grandchildren William and Alexane; daughter Renita Carrobourg (Lee Harrison); daughter Danielle (Derek) Baht, grandchildren Sophie and Quinn; mother Simone Carrobourg (nee Gauthier). Guy was predeceased by his father Paul Carrobourg. Funeral Mass was held on Monday, October 17, 2016, at 11:00 a.m., at Our Lady of the Assumption Co-Cathedral, Gravelbourg, SK. Celebrant was Father Rick Krofchek. Urn bearers were Guy’s grandchildren. An honour guard was formed by the Knights of Columbus. Interment took place at the Gravelbourg Roman Catholic Cemetery. Memorial donations in memory of Guy to St. Joseph's Hospital Foundation Inc., Box 810, Gravelbourg, SK S0H 1X0, were greatly appreciated.
