Obituary of Donnah McIntosh

Donnah Louise McIntosh of Thomson Lake, SK, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer on January 18, 2017, at the age of 71. Donnah was born on January 7, 1946, at Lafleche, SK. She was the third child of four born to Leo and Bertha (nee Barr) Jalbert, and a twin to Donald. Donnah attended school in Gravelbourg, completing her education in Calgary. She married Calvin McIntosh on June 27, 1964, and they were blessed with two children, Cory and Laurie. They raised their family and farmed south of Palmer, SK. Donnah worked at the Credit Union in Assiniboia when the kids were young, and then later drove the Palmer school bus route, which she did for over 20 years. Donnah and Calvin moved to Thomson Lake in 2000. Donnah kept busy working the front gate at the park entrance, which she did until two years ago. Donnah and Calvin enjoyed spending their winters in Mexico, and looked forward to when their family would come visit them there. Donnah loved to create; she did beautiful needlework and made many afghans for her family and friends. Donnah was a member of the Royal Purple in Assiniboia and the Lions Club in Gravelbourg. She was a great friend and was always willing to lend a helping hand. She was a strong and determined woman, battling cancer since she was 24 years old. She was truly a role model to her family and friends, and she will be dearly missed. "To the world you are one person, but to one person you are the world." Donnah is survived by her loving husband Calvin McIntosh; son Cory McIntosh, granddaughter Ashley (Kris) Kyle, great grandchildren Slade, Landon, Zayden, Barden, grandson Carter McIntosh, granddaughter Kaylee Ariss, great grandson Leo; daughter Laurie McIntosh and granddogs Asker, Myra, Mojito, Kaos; sister Leona Start; brother Lucien "Bud" (Sue) Jalbert. Predeceased by her parents Leo and Bertha (nee Barr) Jalbert; twin brother Donald Jalbert; brother-in-law Ron Start. Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday, April 29, 2017, at 3:30 p.m., at the Gravelbourg Lions Den, followed by cocktails and supper at 5:30 p.m. Please feel welcome to bring your favorite story or memory of Donnah to share.
