Obituary of Lloyd Carpenter
Lloyd Ernest Carpenter was born on November 28, 1928, in the Hazenmore district. He was the only child of Myrtle and Alex Carpenter. Lloyd attended school at Jack Creek until grade nine and completed his education in Hazenmore. He worked for a time in Regina at Simpsons and an electrical shop. In 1949, he returned to Hazenmore to farm with his father. On April 1, 1961, Lloyd married his soulmate Beulah Schwager. Their first home was at the Westgate house that had been moved into Hazenmore from the farm where Beulah grew up. In 1963, they welcomed their first son, Curtis, and in 1966 they were blessed with their second son, Dean. In 1967, Lloyd and Beulah had an RTM home moved to the southeast part of town. This became their forever home. They were thrilled when their daughter Coralyn was born in 1969, completing their family. Lloyd was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He cherished family time and loved to spend Christmas with his grandsons. Brandon and Carson spoke fondly about their grandfather and loved his favorite sayings and witty sense of humour. Lloyd and Alex farmed together for many years. In the late 1980s, Curtis started farming with Lloyd. When Curtis took a more active role on the farm, Lloyd was promoted to caretaker for Curtis’s dog Nikki. Lloyd and Nikki became fast friends and were inseparable. Nikki was always by Lloyd’s side, whether riding shotgun or walking beside him. Lloyd loved to garden and could be often found out working in the yard. He was passionate about his John Deere equipment. Lloyd was very active in the community. He enjoyed bowling and served on many boards. He was the mayor of Hazenmore, a member of the Co-op board, the curling club board, the school board, and active in Club 29 and the Lions Club. Lloyd and Beulah enjoyed travelling and going on cruises. Special family vacations included two memorable trips to Disneyland. Beulah passed away on November 11, 2014, and shortly after Lloyd transitioned to the Prairie Villa in Assiniboia. There, he easily made friends with the staff and they enjoyed his kind heart and playful joking. Lloyd passed away on September 5, 2018, at the age of 89. Lloyd is survived by his loving family, son Curtis Carpenter (Lorraine Pelletier), her children Amanda and Ryland; son Dean Carpenter; daughter Coralyn (Jim) Semesock, grandsons Brandon and Carson. He was predeceased by his loving wife Beulah Carpenter (2014); parents Alex and Myrtle Carpenter; in-laws Bud and Maggie Schwager. Graveside Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, October 13, 2018, 1:00 p.m., at the Hazenmore Cemetery, Hazenmore, SK.
