Obituary of Tina Singbeil

Tina Maria Dawn Singbeil (née Straza) finished her work on Earth on Tuesday, 11 September 2018, at the age of 35. Tina is survived by so many: husband Donny Singbeil, Dean (18) and Derek (13), parents Lorne and Patricia Straza, grandparents Daniel and Evelyn Straza, sister Elizabeth Fehr, niece Grace and nephew Samuel Fehr, sister Tiffany Straza, and loved brothers-in-law Jeffrey Fehr and Tommy Moore. Tina had just wholeheartedly welcomed and been welcomed into the Singbeil family, including father- and mother-in-law Larry and Beverly Singbeil, sister-in-law Rayleen Singbeil, niece Tianna, nephew Isaiah, brother-in-law Jeremy Singbeil (Kathy), nieces Laurel, Hayley, and Samantha, and grandmother Doreen. Also by Aunts Penny (George) Olson, Patty-Lou (John) Dolter, Donna-Joy (Glen) Tuplin, Linda-Marie Straza, Lois Gibson, and many cousins. Additionally and importantly, Tina will be a cherished memory of many "self-adopted” persons and families she so deeply cared for. Tina was pre-deceased by her grandparents Clint and Meta Reed, Aunt Ethel Pearce, Uncle George Reed and Uncle Ray Reed. As the firstborn child of an only and firstborn son (amongst four sisters) and the first grandchild of that generation, Tina formed a centre around which much of our world revolved. Tina grew up in southern Saskatchewan, receiving her primary and secondary education through homeschooling (which she really enjoyed and endorsed). There she formed a strong relationship with the land, and a firm belief in community. Her year at the Montana Wilderness School of the Bible solidified her love of God and His creation, and confirmed to her that she was a small-town Saskatchewan girl both at heart and by committed choice. Tina committed to joy. She practiced love. She was a living expression of God’s care for the world. She exercised compassion with a firm belief that the behaviour of individuals encountered was only a glimpse of their true self and reflected their own context; in this way, she accepted others and could see their value and potential. Her heart was grand and generous, too often bigger than she could really bear. Tina was the connection-maker of our family, with a network of friends that spanned continents and generations. We are so grateful that her final gift was a connection with ‘her boys’ Donny, Dean and Derek, and the loving people that surround us now. Tina made it her life to care for people, trading a more traditional life for one focused in God-honouring service. She provided care in homes, hospice, and her community, with a special love for children and those marginalized or misunderstood. Tina loved books, gift-giving, and taking wonder in tiny ordinary moments which she then made so special. The Singbeil, Straza, and Voison families thank the family members, local community, and those far beyond who have shared their love and support for Tina over the years. Tina believed in and practiced building community and helping people, and we are deeply grateful for each and every one of you blessing her. A celebration of Tina’s life will be held on Saturday, September 15, 2018, 2:00 p.m., at the Cornerstone Gospel Church, Mossbank, SK, followed by a time of fellowship. Private family interment. Charitable donations in Tina’s memory may be made to Cornerstone Gospel Church Benevolent Fund.
