Obituary of Dorothy Frances Sewell

Dorothy Frances Sewell (nee Strait) of Lafleche, Sk passed away peacefully on January 26, 2012 at Gravelbourg Foyer d’ Youville at the age of 94 years. Dorothy was born on June 7,1917 in the Plessis district south of Lafleche. She received her education in the Lafleche area where she was later employed. Dorothy married Albert Sewell in 1936.They farmed east of Lafleche sharing 30 wonderful years together. Dorothy was a quiet, loving, kind, compassionate person with a radiant smile who truly enjoyed her family and always had time for others. She enjoyed sports, especially curling, bowling and softball in which she actively participated or coached. Dorothy liked knitting, gardening, square dancing and singing with the Orioles and the United Church Choir. Dorothy was involved in community work, being a member of Coop Guild, Hospital Auxiliary, UCW, Horticultural Club and Club 50.She worked with the 4 H Club, Lafleche Band and delivered Meals on Wheels. Dorothy was predeceased by her husband, Albert; parents, John and Clara (nee Hudson) Strait; sisters, Clara, Leona, Juel, Goldie, Eunice, and Rachel. Dorothy will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her two daughters, Lorraine (Jim) Dixon of Moose Jaw, Sk and Carol Bobryk of Regina, Sk; two sons; Ronald of Lafleche, Douglas of Reseda, California; grandchildren Ronalda, Deanna, Chad, Crystal, Jy, Brent, Randy, Terry, Mike, Brandon; 15 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Vivianne Sewell of Lafleche and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Special thanks to the caregivers at Foyer d’ Youville for their loving care of our mother. Graveside Service will be held at a later date.
