Obituary of Marie Collins
Katherine "Marie” Collins, born on October 1, 1931 in Gravelbourg, SK, passed away unexpectedly at the Moose Jaw Union Hospital on May 28, 2012, with her loving husband by her side. She was predeceased by her parents Dennis and Kathleen Corkery; two brothers Dick and baby Francis; and brothers-in-law Clifford Collins and Bruce Collins. She is survived by her husband Morley and their seven children: Jean, Joan, Kathy, Tom (Debbie), Eileen (Fraser), Jack and Paul (Carla); 10 grandchildren: Ryan, Amanda (Destin), Laura (Darren), Jalene (Dustyn), Lisa, Clayton, Michaela, Shaun, Ashley and Colby, and three great-grandchildren: Kade, Emily and Alexis, as well as sisters-in-law Adrienne Corkery, Hazel (Don) McLeod and Joan Collins and numerous nieces and nephews.
Marie was raised on the farm at LaFleche. She graduated from Regina Grey Nun’s Hospital as a registered nurse in 1953. She nursed for several years, including TB Survey, Fort San and LaFleche Union Hospital, before marrying Morley in 1960 and settling on the farm at Meyronne.
Marie’s faith was a vital part of her life. She was an active member of the C.W.L. and many community organizations.
Morley and Marie retired to Moose Jaw in November 2009 where they made many new friends at Athabasca Towers.
Funeral Service was held on Friday, June 1, 2012, at 2:00 p.m. from the Meyronne Community Hall, Meyronne, SK.
