Obituary of Luella FOWLER

Luella Adeline Mae Fowler of Assiniboia, SK, passed away on Thursday, October 3, 2013, at the age of 87 years. Luella was born in Moose Jaw, SK, on March 7, 1926. She came to Assiniboia with her parents, Joe and Agnes Peters, in October 1939, when they moved from the farm. In 1940 she commenced working at the Wise Owl Variety Store and worked there until 1941. She then began work as a civil servant at #34 E.F.T.S. at the Congress Airport. This is where she met Dick Fowler of Portage La Prairie, Manitoba, who was transferred to the Congress Airport. Luella and Dick were married on April 9, 1943. When they were out of the Services, they set up a home in Assiniboia. Luella worked as a clerk for over twenty years, a cook, and also as a home care aid for seniors. Luella was active with church work, community activities and was a lifetime member of the Royal Canadian Legion. Luella enjoyed people of all ages and her door was always open. She had a love of dogs, especially her beloved Mac. Luella is survived by her son Garry (Betty), grandchildren Perry, Charlotte, great granddaughters Treasure, Oceanna; son Lawrence (Kim), grandson Rawley. She is predeceased by her husband Dick; parents Joe and Agnes Peters. Funeral Service was held on Thursday, October 10, 2013, at 2:00 p.m., at Piche-Hawkins-Grondin Funeral Chapel, Assiniboia, SK, with Pastor Greg Dermody officiant. An Irish Prayer was read by Rawley Fowler and Tracy Hesterman. Urn bearer was Lawrence Fowler. An honour guard was formed by the Royal Canadian Legion Assiniboia Brach #17. Interment took place at Mount Hope Cemetery, Assiniboia, SK.
