Aunt Sarah will always stay in my memories as a gracious, kind and loving lady. I remember visiting Shamrock when I was 13 years old and getting to know many of my cousins; it was the reunion and we involved ourselves in a lot of crazy activities. I drove a car for the first time, golfed on a course with open fields and dirt greens, indulged in some back alley drinking (thanks Uncle Henry for sneaking drinks to Debbie and I at the street dance) and marvelled at the power of a prairie lightning storm from the back of a van (there were so many relatives around that it was my bedroom for the week). Aunt Sarah helped me pack a box lunch for the barn dance, and thanks to her goodies I received quite a few bids from potential future husbands. Uncle Ebby let Debbie and I ride prominently on the town float in the parade. Our job was to spin the cake, but we were having so much fun that we mostly forgot. It might have been the slushy drinks that clouded our judgement (I can't recall if we helped ourselves to the slush from Aunt Eva's freezer or Aunt Sarah's). I smile when I think of Aunt Sarah and my other Saskatchewan relatives. I will miss her laugh and her beautiful spirit.
My love and condolences,
Darlene Abbie
