Obituary of Jeanne Bouvier
Jeanne Lucie Marie Bouvier (née Huel) of Gravelbourg, SK passed away on Monday, December 2, 2019, at the age of 89 years. Jeanne was born in Gravelbourg on June 23, 1930, to Pete and Irene Huel, the third of six children. She attended the Jesus Mary Convent, graduating at the age of 16. In 1951, Jeanne obtained her Piano Teacher diploma from the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto. Later, she would teach piano lessons in her home and at College Mathieu. Following high school, Jeanne began working as a bookkeeper at Huel Motors, working with her Dad and brother, Marcel. On December 2, 1950, Jeanne married Pierre Bouvier Jr., and they were blessed with four children. Jeanne was always there for her children, and they fondly recall the smell of fresh buns or baking when they came home from school. She was a wonderful cook, hosting large family gatherings at special times of the year. There was always lots of homemade traditional food, tourtières, pâté, fruit salad, grasshopper pie, sucre a la crème, and hot cross buns at Easter. Rumour has it that Jeanne’s excellent cooking attracted more than one son-in-law! Jeanne was kind, considerate, encouraged her children to make the best of any situation and to face difficulties head on. She was always there to support her family, remind them to count their blessings, and to be thankful for what they had. She taught her children the importance of family, was very independent, and a great role model. Jeanne owned and operated the Boutique Ladies Wear in Gravelbourg for 29 years and was proud to be part of the Gravelbourg community. She enjoyed the beauty of the prairies, never failing to comment on the beautiful sky and ever-changing landscape of the seasons. Jeanne was a devout Catholic. She attended weekly mass for as long as she was able and was a member of the CWL. Jeanne was proud of her Irish heritage and was thrilled to take a trip to Ireland in 2000. She enjoyed weekly visits to the hairdresser, coffee time, and knitting. She was so proud of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. The highlight of her day was when they would visit, whether in her home, apartment, or at the Foyer. They brought her so much joy! Jeanne’s warm smile and kind heart will be dearly missed. Left to cherish Jeanne’s memory is her loving family, daughter Laraine (Denis) Tremblay; son Claude Bouvier; daughter Christine (Ron) Pinsonneault; daughter Stephanie (Patrick) Dumelie; grandchildren Maureen (Kevin) Grant, Colleen (Scott) Sherven, Jacqueline Bouvier (Riley Gauthier), Gabriel (Santana) Pinsonneault, Mario (Ashley) Pinsonneault, Mylène Pinsonneault, Rory Dumelie, Liam Dumelie; great grandchildren Samantha, Sophie, Chloé, Nevaeh, Waylon; daughter-in-law Jo-Ann Bouvier; sister Denise (John) Gauthier, sister Marion (Claude) Piché; nieces and nephews; long-time friend Germaine Legault.
