Obituary of Simone LaRochelle

Simone Marie Cecile was born February 16, 1947 to Adrien and Cecile LaRochelle.  She had many challenges to overcome throughout her life but was always a very happy person. 

She lived in Moose Jaw most of her life in different group homes but spent 18 years at Joanne and Rick Yukes, becoming apart of their family.  She moved to Moose Jaw Family for Change in 2017 and really enjoyed her group outings and get-togethers with all the staff and clients in their community center.  In the fall of 2019, Simone became ill and after her hospital stay was moved to the Moose Jaw Extendicare while waiting for a room at the Gravelbourg Foyer.  In January 2020 Simone was finally moved home to Gravelbourg where she resided until her passing on May 18, 2020.

During Simone’s life, she loved to do puzzles, knit, do rug hooking and crafts.  She loved to play with her cards and would spend hours flipping through magazines and catalogues looking at all the pages over and over again. 

Her favorite gifts to receive were Teddy bears, cozy blankets, Toques and mitts and as she would say “ohhh les pantoufles”  ( slippers).  She loved to watch the kids play but was very possessive over her Chair, blankets and Teddies and they all soon learnt what was hers!

When Simone would come home for Christmases or special occasions, she would always want to go for coffee somewhere as she loved to visit and see family and eat all the homemade goodies they had.   She would greet everyone with huge smiles and always a hug even if she didn’t know the person…Everyone got a hug!

She will be greatly missed by all of her family and extended family.  We were all looking forward to being able to spend more time with her now that she was finally back home in Gravelbourg. 

Simone was predeceased by her parents Adrien (1970) and Cecile (2010) LaRochelle; brother Henri LaRochelle (1977), sister Marie LaRochelle (infancy), brother Jean Marie LaRochelle (1972), sister Monique Chabot (2009), brother Marc LaRochelle (2017); sisters-in-law Marlene LaRochelle (1983), Helen LaRochelle (2016);  brother-in-law Raymond Croteau (2017).

She leaves to mourn her brother Raymond (Elaine) LaRochelle, brother Lucien (Terry) LaRochelle, brother Louis (Donna) LaRochelle, sister Thérèse Croteau, brother Edouard (Linda) LaRochelle, brother Réal (Alice) LaRochelle, brother Renaud (Mary Lynn) LaRochelle, brother Alfred (Donna) LaRochelle, sister Jocelyne (Bob) Bowler; numerous nieces and nephews; great nieces and great nephews and great great nieces and great great nephews.
