Obituary of Gill LIZEE
Gill Lizee of Moose Jaw, SK, and formerly Glentworth, SK, passed away peacefully surrounded by family, after a brief battle with cancer on Sunday, July 14, 2013, at the age of 85 years. Gill was born on November 22, 1927, in Trois-Rivieres, Quebec, the only child of Harvey and Marie (nee Toutant) Lizee. In 1929, Gill moved out west with his parents, and they homesteaded south of Glentworth. They had cattle and horses until 1951, when they began grain farming. Gill farmed the family’s land until his retirement in 1995. In his earlier years he was known for playing the accordion with the Romansky Brothers orchestra when he was fifteen and played two winters with the Wes Andries’ band in Moose Jaw. Along with Smilin Johnnie’s band for the winter of 1962. Along with music, he enjoyed travelling, flying, hunting and boating . Gill loved to be with his family and friends and anyone who knew him knew he loved to play a great hand of crib. Gill will be lovingly remembered and missed by his family, daughter Dianne, grandchildren Marc, Darren (Dawn), Nicole and Bryce; daughter Marianne (Gary), grandchildren Cherie (Blair)and Wade(Chantelle); daughter Linda (Rick), grandchildren Aaron and Jayce (Shannon); daughter Shelly (Steve) grandchildren Michele, Georgie and Elijah; son Ron; and 18 great grandchildren. A Private Family Graveside Funeral Service was held on Wednesday, July 17, 2013, at 1:00 p.m., with Father Franklin Emereuwa celebrant. Urn bearer Ron Lizee. A poem shared by Shelly Lizee-Osiowy.
